Laws and regulations

In 1997  regulation number UNI 10791:98 International Procedural Guidelines for Neapolitan Pizza  was registered by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana (Association of Genuine Neapolitan Pizza) in partnership with Federico II University – School of Medicine and Surgery, Department of Human Physiology and Integrated Biological Fuctions.

In 2004 the Gazzetta Ufficiale published an article entitled «Procedural guidelines for the production of Neapolitan Pizza as a guaranteed traditional dish» , G.U. n.120 dated 24/05/2004

In 2010 a European law was published entitled «entering a name in the register of traditional specialities guaranteed Pizza Napoletana TSG», EU regulation n.97 dated 4th February 2010

In December 2017, UNESCO officially recognised the art of Neapolitan ‘pizzaiuolo’  as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On 25 November 2022, the European Commission unanimously approved the regulation for which the name “Pizza Napoletana”  (TSG) is registered subject to the name.
